On March 28, 2011 MEDIVISION conducted the recording of two prestigious operations in the Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases in Katowice within the ” Aortic Workshop – X Annual Postgraduate Course: Surgery of the Aortic Root and Aortic Arch ” organized by Assoc. of Marek Jasiński M.D. (www.aorticworkshop.pl).

The first operation was carried out by prof. El-Khoury Gebrine from ST-Luc Hospital in Brussels (Belgium) and it was concerned with repairing the aortic valve using the method of a stentless implantation ( Aortic Valve Reimplantation – Marfan). 


The second operation was led by cardiac surgeon, prof. Roberto Di Bartolomeo from Bologna, Italy and it consisted of a simultaneous repair of the aortic valve, ascending aorta, aortic arch and descending aorta.

During the surgical operation, four cameras were connected to an HD video-mixer so that the image was mixed in real time and stored on a HDD recorder. Owing to this, immediately after the operation, finished movie could be transferred to a client’s computer.

On 25-26.06 we were invited to Warsaw to participate in a two-day workshop organized
by Perfekt Sobierajski within its program www.polyester-design.com.

The leading idea of ​​the workshop was to highlight the role of a product-designer in the process of designing medical devices.
The conclusion for “reasonable” design is primarily a user needs analysis and observation in a natural environment.

Video footage from the operating room might be an irreplaceable tool for documenting the use of medical devices in its natural environment.
It is an excellent basis for the product designer to perform need analysis and conduct further research.

The workshop’s organizer – Perfect Sobierajski, together with the Aga Labor company were awarded the Red Dot 2011 in the category “Life, science and medicine” ( www.red-dot.org ) for the Combo surgical sucker designed by Paulina Kordos and Dawid Żebrowski.
 
Paulina Kordos, working for the Artificial Heart Laboratory of Zbigniew Religa Cardiac Surgery Development Foundation in Zabrze has carried out a project of mobile drive unit casing of artificial heart ventricles.

Medivision had a unique opportunity and pleasure to produce promotional video and 3D multimedia for the pride of Polish Helicopter Emergency Medical Service – Eurocopter EC135.

Our aim was to show improvements and medical solutions designed in the interior and exterior of a helicopter – especially to show resuscitation performed with straighten arms (a feature distinguishing our machines all over the world).

We also created an extended version of a video containing 3D elements as a supplement for a conference lecture.
The video was designed to present the ergonomics of individual elements inside the medical cabin of a helicopter.

The premiere took place on 29th of October 2011, during the medical conference:
“Sudden cardiovascular conditions – emergency procedures – ON FAMILIAR TERMS WITH A SHOCK.”

Project will be publicly released on December 2012.

The Air Ambulance Service is the most elite unit of the medical rescue services in Poland. Poland came in the possession of 23 modern helicopters deployed in 17 bases in Poland.
Each of the new helicopters is able to help at a distance of ca. 80 km from the base, reaching its destination in 23 minutes.
However, the most interesting innovation is the inside of this beautiful machine which is equipped as a specialist resuscitation ambulance.
